Overview
Plaza Khao Gaeng Borough is the critically acclaimed second site from Chef Luke Farrell's Thai restaurant brand, developed in partnership with JKS Restaurants. Located in Borough Yards at Stoney Street, the restaurant celebrates Southern Thailand's coast-to-jungle cuisine through the traditional khao gaeng style—curry over rice—served in an informal, energetic atmosphere. The original Plaza Khao Gaeng in Tottenham Court Road earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and this second location has continued the brand's success. Luke Farrell grows many of the Southeast Asian ingredients in tropical greenhouses at Ryewater Nursery in Dorset, bringing authentic, punchy Southern Thai flavours to London.
Approach
This project involved the complete refit of a former Vinoteca site, requiring comprehensive management across all phases. We managed the full process from inception, assisting the commercial team with Lease to Assign negotiations, coordinating the Vinoteca handover, and strategically repurposing existing equipment where possible. Acting as both Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor, we coordinated internal and external teams to deliver a space with its own distinct identity. The project exemplifies our approach to effective value engineering—creating a beautifully designed restaurant environment whilst maintaining strict capex control, ultimately delivering a venue that has enhanced the reputation of Luke Farrell's growing Thai restaurant group.
